The 2013-2014 winter was terrible on drain pipes, sewers, and plumbing systems in general. The deep freezes and frequent thaws made caused a lot of water damage from freezing, only to have them thaw and get water elsewhere, where it also froze, expanded, and ruined the pipes. Now all the rain is making your home’s plumbing system work that much harder. The result is damaged drain and sewer lines.

But there are plenty of solutions to repair drain pipes, some more invasive and expensive than others. While a complete replacement of your pipes may seem like the best idea, it rarely is necessary. Instead, lining your existing drain or sewer may be an appropriate way to fix the problem while saving you money and without the hassle of traditional drain/sewer pipe replacement.

Cured in place pipe lining is an effective way to solve drain and sewer problems without the need for traditional excavation.

Trenchless Drain Repair Techniques

Cured in-place pipe (CIPP) is a drain and sewer repair method whereby a new pipe is created inside of the old existing pipe.  It works by inserting a resin-saturated felt tube made of polyester, fibreglass cloth, or a another suitable materials into a damaged pipe. The resin is then hardened using UV light, steam, or another curing technology and left to bond with the pipe. The result is a jointless, seamless, pipe-within-a-pipe that, rather than fully replacing a pipe, fixes the one already in place.

Less Hassle

One of the main reasons why CIPP is the least invasive way to fix your drainpipe is because it goes inside your pipe rather than replacing it. This means the pipe itself can stay where it is and the CIPP lining can be installed wherever it’s most convenient. You don’t have to dig up the old pipe with a CIPP lining, you only have to find an easy place of entry. That will mean less work for the person installing the pipe and less money you have to spend on labour hours to get that pipe fixed and working properly.

Save Money

Another advantage of CIPP is that it fits in with your existing pipe network, letting the delicate flow of water to and your from your home continue as is. Often when pipes are replaced, considerations have to be made for the rest of the system. Differing pipe diameters and materials can affect your entire system, but with CIPP, the system remains the exact same, saving you time and money getting the rest of your system up to speed with a new upgrade.

Less Disruption

Finally, CIPP is a better environmental choice, leaving the area around the pipe undisturbed and not using resources to make new pipes where a resin can do the same job. This is especially important for homes near nature, be it parks or acreages, where poor environmental choices can lower property values and disturb communal spaces in your community.

CIPP is a good choice for people who want to save time and money but need their pipes working at the best they can. This is a method of drain repair that is is a flexible choice as it moulds to your existing pipes without the need for digging or other intrusive, or expensive methods. There are plenty of options for people needing their drainpipes fixed, but a drain pipe lining may be the best choice for you.
